Road trips and exciting festivals in March

SpiritFest Yoga, Music and Dance Festival

We are attending 3 festivals during March, all very well suited to the vegan message and lifestyle. We’ll be taking Ma Belle, our mobile vegan kitchen (food caravan). The first festival is SpiritFest, held at Somerset Gift, a pristine green farm and nature reserve just outside Swellendam. We’ll be there from the 28 of February and will head home on the 2nd of March. We’ll be working long hours but we are really looking forward to it!

Greenpop Reforest Festival at the Platbos Forest

The Platbos Forest is an ancient indigenous forest situated on the Grootbos Road between Gansbaai and Hermanus in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. During two weekends in March every year, one weekend targeted at families (parents and their young ones) and one weekend aimed at adults, young and old, hundreds of nature enthusiasts get together and plant thousands of trees in an effort to restore this special forest to its former glory. We’ll be at both of these festivals from 16 – 18 March 2018 and again from 23 – 25 March 2018. We’ll be helping the other vendors to feed the masses but when we’re not preparing meals we hope to get our hands dirty and plant some trees!

Ma Belle, our vegan kitchen (caravan), will be experiencing her first real roadtrip. It will be a first for Hennie and I too. Speaking of which, when I first started The Little Red Bike it was a cookery school and my now business partner, Hennie Botha, set up the website for me. He was intrigued with the idea of The Little Red Bike, and being a passionate vegetarian (and later becoming a vegan) himself, he wanted to support The Little Red Bike dream. Without Hennie and his input I would not be where I am today. Hennie has been an integral part of The Little Red Bike and his belief in me and the product made this possible. The rest is history, or so they say. We set up shop together and purchased the old caravan which we transformed and named Ma Belle. That is how dreams are born and it’s the involvement and support of others like Hennie, and those who wish to remain nameless, who make it a success. Many thanks to you dear Hennie, and to all our supporters!

We are looking forward to this exciting new challenge and I will keep you posted on our vegan journey.

Much love and good Vegan Vibes
